SPORTS : HUGO BROOS APPOINTED HEAD COACH OF INDOMITABLE LIONS OF CAMEROON

Football remains one of Cameroon's identity. Some say it's a religion. At a point when Cameroon football seems to be desperately in need of a new beginning, marked by consistent efforts to bring back its glorious days, a lot of pundits have been busy sizing up possibilities to this effect.

HUGO : WOULD YOU BE ABLE?

Many have asked for a renowned and experienced man at the head of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. Choosing a head coach has not been an easy task, according to Fecafoot’s President Tombi a Roko, who gave the impression that Cameroon will not go in for any kind of a coach.

Belgian HUGO BROOS has been appointed as head coach of the indomitable lions of Cameroon this February 13 2016. After the announcement of the vacancy to replace Volker Finke, a short list was retained and from all indications BROSS wasn't on the list.

It's clear he will likely not be an ideal person for the job if his background is anything to go by. There can also be surprises!

WHO IS HUGO?

Hugo Broos is a Belgian football manager. Born: April 10, 1952 (age 63), Grimbergen, Belgium Height: 5′ 11″. Playing position: Defender From 1991 to 1998 he coached Club Brugge, winning the championship twice in 1992 an 1996. In 1991, 1995 and 1996 his team also won the Belgian Cup. 

From 2002 until 2005 he coached RSC Anderlecht. Broos won the prestigious Coach of the Year award 4 times in his career. He was fired from RSC Anderlecht on 7 February 2005 for the first time in his career. During the 2007–08 seasons he was fired again from GENT, sacked in 2012 from Al JAZIRA Club.

The big question remains - with such an unconvincing resume especially with no experiences in African football, was his appointment influenced by a lower pay package or once more by Cameroon's jersey sponsor company? The appointment has already induced criticisms back in Cameroon as many think it’s a same old story of incompetent white coaches been forced down the throats of Cameroonians. 

FECAFOOT BOSS TOMBI : YOU BEAR RESPONSIBILITY?

Would it be too demanding to ask for a national to be head coach for the indomitable lions of Cameroon?

Going by the list of Cameroon’s football officials there is a blend which is expected to put the seemingly drowning team on its rails.
