What started as a
strike by Common Law Lawyers in Cameroon, which was ruthlessly suppressed by Yaoundé
authorities, seem to be taking a different twist.
Amid meetings between
lawyers and some members of Parliament to try and diffuse mounting tensions, MPs
of English expression of the Social Democratic Front, SDF are demanding a
bi-jurial legal system for Cameroon and the respect of the Anglo saxon system
of education.
In a statement issued
16 November 2016, the MPs seemingly resurfaced what is considered as the Anglophone problem and want it resolved once and for all. They are backing up
lawyers and teachers.
