AS IMF VISITS , PAUL BIYA BLAIMS COLLAPSING ECONOMY ON ‘WORLD CRISIS’

Head of State Paul Biya has blamed Cameroon’s plummeting economy on instability and what he termed an ever changing world.
He said there was instability, volatility and deregulation existing everywhere and Cameroon was no exception.

Paul Biya was speaking at the Presidency; January 7 at a toast he offered the visiting International Monetary Fund, IMF’s   Managing Director, Mrs Christine Lagarde..

He boasted that for the last five years, Cameroon, within a difficult global economy, has kept its economic growth rate stable and to a relatively appreciated level.  He said there was need to consolidate that growth and take it to important levels. 

Paul Biya said his country aims at obtaining sustainable inclusive economic growth that would improve living conditions until the country attains its emergence by 2035.

He announced, he has instructed reforms that would help Cameroon exploit its natural resources and that his government was working to ensure Cameroon’s debts are  handled in sustainable manner.


Offering IMF Boss a Gift: Remember Cameroon!
He pledged Cameroon’s support to the IMF and wants the international community to adapt itself to new exigencies on financial governance. 
Paul Biya described the IMF boss’ visit as reflection of the excellent relationship Cameroon had with the FMI lauding the organization’s advice, assistance and cooperation during difficult economic and financial situations of the country.

Mrs Christine Lagarde who said she spoke at length with President Biya about the long and important collaboration between her institution and Cameroon, continues her visit in Douala, where she is to meet economic operators.
