SDF LIMBE DISTRICT CHAIRMAM, Godden ZAMA, ARRESTED DURING ‘PEACEFUL’ PROTEST

The Limbe District Chairman of the leading opposition Social Democratic Front Party, SDF,has since February 3, 2016, been detained at the cells of central police station of the town, in the South West Region of Cameroon.

ZAMA IN CELL : ITS MY RIGHT TO PROTEST
The tough talking Godden Zama  Ndenge was bundled up and arrested in the Cassava Farms neighbourhood  by security forces, as he staged what some of his supporters are describing as a peaceful protest against the demolition of houses by the Limbe City Council which started February 3.

The Limbe Government Delegate who is said to have hinted the SDO for Fako who immediately ordered the arrest of Zama seems bent on the demolition ‘project.’

“Is that not sufficient to arrest him? He was trying to incite the population to revolt,” stated the Government Delegate to the Limbe City Council,LCC  Andrew Motanga Monjimba, February 3.

Motanga was unable to explain how the social democrat was ‘inciting people to revolt,’ and asked that his offices be visited for explanations on the ongoing demolition of buildings in his area of command.

The SDO for Fako, Zang III was not immediately reachable.

The SDF party hierarchy which is reported to have been informed is said to be taking some measures to secure the release of their Limbe District Chairman.

ZAMA: ADDRESSING HIS COMRADES
Witnesses said they spotted the SDF militant with a placard staging a one man peaceful protest to demand explanations and put to a halt to the demolition exercise; a demand the party district had made on January 28 in a statement, following a district executive meeting.

We recommend that the city council starts the demolition exercise by demolishing all makeshift council structures constructed in wood.

This would include most of the market infrastructure in Limbe and particularly the part of the Newtown market lying on the road going down to the manga Williams avenue.

We urge the city council to create employment opportunities for youths rather than demolish houses left for them by their fathers and grandfathers,” the Limbe SDF District had then stated.
MOTANGA: LIMBE GOVT DELEGATE

The Limbe City council is reported to have given a period of three years (between 2012 and 2015) for owners of plank houses around the roadside to pull them down or sell their

land to someone who could put up a block house. That dateline is reported to have expired January 31, 2016.

  1. When a regime does not have a clear vision, then its actions becomes repressive towards the people. Whe the officials of the LCC give such an automatum to the city dwellers to vacate their residence beside the road on the simple basis that their houses are in blanks, then, we can see open discrimination in society perpetuated by the government which is suppose to protect and provide for the people. This may become worsen when we see that the cpdm regime is bent of eternalizing itself in power through the recent "calls from the people" le legitimize Biya's bid to run for president in 2017, then, something must be done soonest. Will SDF not use this as a pretext to mobilize Cameroonians towards putting a national pressure on Biya and his henchmen? Will the SDF Chairman not lead a national call to oppose the trick Biya is staging again? Or has SDF decided to play the "see and say nothing" game? As for USDP, we are ready for the change.
