KUWAIT MPs VISIT CAMEROON : WOULD GOV'T BE BOLD TO SPEAK OUT?

A delegation of Members of Parliament, MPs from Kuwait, is in Yaoundé since March 21 2016 for a five day working visit in Cameroon.

One of the officials in the delegation set the tone on the fate of girls and migrants,

working in Kuwait, amid heavy allegations of ill human treatment of Cameroonians. “Kuwait is a state of law where human rights especially those of girls are respected,”

boasted Kuwaiti MP, Hon Saud Rhaji who is also presented by Cameroonian authorities as Chairman of Cameroon-Kuwait Friendship Group.

The visit of the Kuwaiti MPs takes place almost three weeks after a delegation of officials of the Ministry of  External Relations, MINREX, with  Adoum Gargoum at its head visited the Middle East;

KUWAIT GOVT SHELTER
Lebanon, United Arab Emirates Quarter. They never made the much expected stopover at the Government shelter located in the Jleeb Al Sheyoukh neigbourhood in Kuwait.

The shelter which is being described as a deportation camp has been host to more than 60 Cameroonian girls, suspected Victims of Human trafficking (VoT) awaiting voluntary repatriation, some for almost 9 months now. Minrex had put the figure of Cameroonians in Kuwait alone at almost 500.

With flight tickets in hand for some, others are simply in need of emergency travel documents, "laissez passezs' in particular, which the Kuwaiti and Cameroonian authorities have not been able to provide till, date for unclear reasons.

Kuwaiti Officials who were received by Cameroon’s First Vice president of the National Assembly, Hon Hilarion Etong , said both parties would decide areas of discussions and how to enhance long lasting ties between both countries.
HON HILARION ETONG: DON'T SLEEP !  SPEAK UP!

“It is essential that the Government of Cameroon establishes an Embassy in Kuwait to provide essential services (i.e. issuance of travel documents, legal assistance, etc …)

to the Cameroonian expatriate community in Kuwait,” Mohmamed El Zarkani, Programme Manager in the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Kuwait had suggested to the Cameroonian government.

It is likely, the creation of a Cameroon  embassy in Kuwait  ,could be a subject for deliberations after an apparent visit to the  existing Kuwaiti Embassy in Yaoundé.

Before leaving Cameroon the delegation from the Kuwait's Friendship Parliamentary Committee
