N. W. CAMEROON : FORTY FREE COFFINS IN STOCK FOR GOV'T WORKERS WHO DIE

FREE CASKETS FOR GOV'T WORKERS
Bewilderment, shock and dismay are what constitute reactions following the purchase of forty coffins for government workers who die in Donga Mantung Division, NW region of Cameroon.

The truck (on picture) carrying forty coffins is  within the premises of the Nkambe Finance Complex otherwise known as the treasury.

The Divisional President for the Cameroon National Youth Council in Donga Mantung , Abanda Marcel quotes the DO for Nkambe, as saying he only noticed the caskets parked at the Finance complex early June 9 2016.

The Finance Controller for Ndonga Mantung who is allegedly said to be at the head of the committee that purchased the coffins had explained that they were  to be offered for free to any government worker who dies. Reason for which they were purchased and stocked. Other sources say the caskets were made on request.

At the time of filing in this report, attempts at getting to the Finance Controller for Ndonga have not yielded fruits.

Several social media critics, who have visited the Facebook page of the Cameroon National Youth Council Ndonga-Mantung, have denounced the purchase and stocking of the caskets.

“ We are asking for development projects and you bring us caskets?” "Why not use the funds to create jobs. " "So these caskets are going to be waiting for workers to die so they can be used. Are the forty people already dead?" read some of the comments. Some of the coffins are said to be on the way to other Divisions in the North West Region.

  2. Has it come to that? It is not strange coming from such an insensitive government like that of Cameroon.
