FOUR DIE AFTER TIMBER TRUCK ACCIDENT IN DOUALA

Four persons were confirmed dead with scores of others sustaining injuries after an accident which occurred last night January 27 at Carrefour Nelson Mandela (former Elf) in the Douala 3 municipality, Littoral Region.

The victims were mostly pedestrians, bike riders and roadside vendors who were crushed by wood a heavy duty truck was transporting.
VICTIMS CRUSHED

It is reported that the truck lost control under unclear circumstances before crushing the victims it found on its way.

Witnesses blamed the accident on the unroad-worthiness of the truck while others said the plank being transported was not well tied to the vehicle.

GOVERNOR IVAHA


The governor of the Region Samuel Ivaha visited the scene after which the corpses of the not immediately identified deceased victims were transported to the morgue of the Laquantinie hospital. Survivors were also rushed to nearby hospitals with two of them said to be in a critical state.
