The students had deserted Amphitheaters and are chanting songs in different areas across the campus.
The reasons for the strike action remains so far unclear, although reports are indicating that the students are demanding the payment of 50000 Frs Presidential grant to Level 400 (third year) students.
The students are also said to be opposed to payment to check their results online among other grievances. These demands are contained in a release from the 'University of Buea Students Union' circulating on social media.
The Director of Student Affairs is reported to have been spotted this November 28 2016 promising to discuss the issues raised with the UB administration.
The strike action comes in the wake of a threatening communique from the University Administration warning students and lecturers who do not show up for lectures of unspecified sanctions.
The university had also in a statement dated November 25 2016 (attached above ) attempted an explanation on the the presidential grant.
There has been heavy troop deployment in and around the Molyko Campus. No casualities have been reported although several witnesses indicate that teargas is polluting the air within the Molyko student residential area. Nous y reviendrons....
